The police activity and closure of the road affected school buses.

Duval County Public Schools released the following statement regarding the situation:

"Hello families, this is Duval County Public Schools, and this message is only for those of you who live in Gregory Cove Apartments or are being impacted by the police situation in that area.

We understand that you have been told to shelter in place by police, and that because of this, our buses have not been able to pick up your children.

While we will not be able to send buses back to your area due to their other route responsibilities, we want to assure you that there will be no academic consequences if your children are not able to get to school today.

We encourage you to stay safe and follow police instructions. If you are able to get your children to school once the situation clears, that would be great. But if not, there will be no consequences and any work or tests missed will be able to be made up.
