ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — Crews are on the scene at St. Augustine Beach early Monday afternoon after a small plane made an emergency landing there. The pilot of the small single engine plan was not injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A report from the Florida Highway Patrol said the plane traveling from West Palm surveying beach erosion from Tropical Storm Nicole when its engine died.
The engine sputtered twice and on the third time it shut off, the report says. The pilot tried to make it to the St. Augustine airport but was not able to. He decided to land on the beach.
The plane landed safely, the report said, but waves overturned it.
No one was injured.
