Pigs reportedly roaming Lake Forest neighborhood Monday, one injured

One resident says one of the pigs was attacked by a dog at one point during the day.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A couple of pigs were seen cruising through a Lake Forest neighborhood Monday, according to multiple reports. One resident says one of the pigs was attacked by a dog at one point during the day. First Coast News obtained video of the attack from a neighbor. However, the images and the sound are disturbing. In the video, there is a brown big and a pink pig. One can see multiple dogs biting of the brown pig and its squealing loudly from the pain. FCN talked to Shyanne Knights, the neighbor who owned the dogs.

"I was like 'what is two pigs doing out on this street?'" Knights said.

The pet-owner said the pigs wandered into her backyard and that is where the dogs attacked. To whomever owns the pigs, Knights suggested keeping the animals locked up. After that, First Coast News talked to Benjamin Cole, a neighbor who called the police about the wandering animals.

"They [the pigs] had been walking in the neighborhood for about three hours," Benjamin Cole said to First Coast News

In his 29 years living in the neighborhood on the 800 block of Brandywine Street, he never thought he would see pigs. At first glance, he thought it was amusing seeing the animals rove around the area, but that changed when the attacked happened. He claims if someone from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office showed up earlier, the situation could have been avoided. Cole said he called around 1PM, but the animals were rounded up more than four hours later. FCN is waiting to hear from JSO if they were tied up on other calls.

Eventually, the pigs wandered to another neighbor's home until authorities put them in a livestock trailer. If the pigs do not belong to anyone, the animals would be up for adoption. Unfortunately, the brown pig might have to be put down because its injuries were so severe. As for Knights' dogs, JSO said nothing should happen to them. Actually, if the pigs are domestic, then the owner would face the consequences.
