JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
A Toyota sedan was heading westbound on Edgewood Avenue West while two pedestrians were trying to cross the road at Cleveland Road.
A man, in his sixties, was hit by the car and declared dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue. The second person crossing the road was not hit by the car but was injured when he fell in the roadway. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The driver was not injured during the crash. They remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
This incident was the 78th traffic fatality in Duval County, officials said.
