GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A man is dead after he was hit by a train traveling through Green Cove Springs on Sunday night.
According to the Green Cove Springs Police Department, around 11:57 p.m., a CSX train was traveling north toward the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Oak Street.
After the train passed through the intersection, it hit and killed the man, who police considered a pedestrian.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
The victim's cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office, police said.
