ST. MARYS, Ga. — A fire at a home in St. Marys killed one person early Friday morning, according to the St. Marys Fire Department.
Fire rescue was dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Wheeler Street at around 1:37 a.m.
Firefighters reported heavy fire and smoke from the house.
They were able to stop the fire from reaching other structures and extinguish the fire.
However, a search was conducted once the fire was contained, and one person was found dead.
The fire is still under investigation.
