JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An Eastside man finally has some relief from the heat.
Last week, First Coast News spoke to Gregory Lawson, an Eastside man who was living without AC.
Lawson is disabled and lives on a fixed income. He says he inherited his home from his late mother and it is in need of major repairs.
To keep cool he sucks on ice cubes and relies on a single box fan.
Tom Rosario, a home inspector out of St. Marys, Georgia, saw First Coast News' story and wanted to help.
Thursday, he delivered and installed an air conditioner for Lawson, who was thankful to finally get some relief.
“Someone cares, someone cares enough to reach out to help me and I really appreciate it a whole lot," Lawson said.
“It’s a really good felling to see that I could help somebody in more need than I have I mean this was very touching to me," Rosario said.
No one was happier to see Lawson get his air conditioner than Tellisa Robinson, his family friend.
Robinson introduced First Coast News to Lawson and is trying to get her small business, Eastcoast Striping and Painting, off the ground and running.
She says she’s struggling to make money for labor and material and is trying to bring businesses to the Eastside to partner with her so she can help her old neighborhood
“We would like to link up with you guys and make it happen together so we can bridge this gap to make this city the city that it once was," Robinson said.
