Georgia authorities say 17 died in traffic incidents over Thanksgiving weekend

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Public Safety has released its numbers regarding traffic fatalities over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

As of 6 a.m. on Monday, 17 traffic fatalities had been reported over the holiday weekend.

The holiday travel period ran from Tuesday, November 26, to Monday, December 2.

Some of the fatal incidents occurred in these areas, according to the responding agencies : 

  • Lawrenceville
  • Dougherty County
  • Richmond County 
  • Monroe County
  • Sandy Springs
  • Roswell
  • DeKalb County
  • Columbus
  • Dodge County
  • Toombs County
  • Cobb County
  • Troup County
  • Oconee County
