New boutique in Jacksonville aims to curb child removals, keep families together

Threads of Resilience was opened in the 32209 zip code, which has the highest number of child removals in Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A new resource is now open for families in Jacksonville in an effort to keep families together and keep kids out of foster care.

The new boutique, Threads of Resilience, is now open inside the Center of Hope at Emmett Reed Community Center. The opening also marks The Giving Closet Project's first partnership with a community center.

The boutique offers adult professional clothes, items for children and infants, hygiene products and diapers free of cost. It also has a safe space for expecting parents to spend time in a comfortable environment with their children.

Jada Hunter with Center of Hope, which is part of Family Support Services, says they found the 32209 zip code in Jacksonville has the highest number of child removals.

The resources offered at Threads of Resilience are one way they are working to change that statistic.

"The more we invest, the more we support, and the more we work alongside with our parents and our residents in our community, that they now have the resiliency and they now have what they need and the resources that they need to not even fall into that category," said Hunter.

To schedule a time to go to Threads of Resilience, email CenterofHope@fssnf.org or call (904) 265-6787.

We're excited to announce a new partnership to support families in the 32209 community! The Center of Hope at Emmett...
