Neptune Beach man arrested for driving under the influence with child in car

Police say Steven Barlow was driving with a six-year-old in his car when he hit several trees. His blood alcohol level was 3 times the legal limit.

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — A Neptune Beach man was arrested Saturday after police say he drove drunk with a 6-year-old in his car.

Steven Barlow, 53, is facing charges of reckless driving under the influence, property damage and child abuse without great bodily harm.

According to the Neptune Beach Police Department, Barlow crashed into several trees. When he was confronted by police, he showed "signs of impairment."

His blood alcohol was .259, more than three times the legal limit of .08, NPBD determined.

His total bond was set at $15,006.

NBPD Chief Michael J. Key said there is no reason to drive under the influence. "If you do that in Neptune Beach, expect to go to jail."
