UPDATE- Power mostly restored after more than 23K customers experience power outage in Clay County

Portions of Northern and Western Clay County are being impacted by an outage, according to Clay Electric.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — 1:30 p.m. update: Accoridng to Clay Electric power has mostly been restored to the affected areas.

More than 23,000 people and businesses are being affected by a sizeable power outage in Clay County Saturday morning.

According to the utility's power outage map, 13,043 customers are affected around the First Coast Expressway and Oakleaf area as of 10:30 a.m. About 2,554 utility customers are affected around Blanding Boulevard and 4,678 affected around Orange Park, according to the utility. The Blanding outage has an estimated restoration time of 2:03 p.m., Clay Electric said.

A Clay Electric spokesman told First Coast News that restoration is underway. He said the outages this morning are due to loss of transmission service to several substations in northern Clay County.

On Facebook, Clay Electric released the following statement:

"We are aware of the outage affecting members in our Orange Park District. Please be patient while we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. The best way to report outages is the MyClayElectric app. You will also receive email notifications for outages and estimated restoration times when they are available."

The Orange Park Mall also posted that its opening times Saturday morning would be temporarily delayed.
