MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A Middleburg fentanyl dealer arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office tried to sneak drugs into jail after his arrest Thursday, deputies said.

After a month-long undercover investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at 43 Plankton Ave. Wednesday in search of drugs. The sheriff’s office said they found 16 grams of cocaine, 57 grams of fentanyl, 3.5 buprenorphine pills, 48 Xanax pills, three guns and 84 rounds of ammunition. One of the guns had previously been reported stolen by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Devon Justice was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail. Once at the jail, deputies said they found a small amount of cocaine, fentanyl, xylazine and methamphetamine concealed in his body as he attempted to smuggle the drugs into the detention facility.

“The Clay County Sheriff’s Office continues removing dangerous drugs from our streets and out of the hands of our children,” Sheriff Michell Cook said. “Our team is committed to conducting solid investigations, leading to increased prosecution rates, and focusing on those who bring this scourge into our community.:

Justice was charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
