Memorial arrangements announced for fallen JSO corrections officer Brad McNew

The public is welcome to pay their respects by lining the sidewalks of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Tuesday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Memorial plans have been announced for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office correctional officer who was shot and killed last week.

Brad McNew, a 24-year veteran with JSO, was killed early Saturday after he tried to intervene in a domestic dispute at a Northside truck stop.

There will be a private viewing for family, friends and JSO employees Monday evening.

Then, a memorial mass for McNew will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Old St. Augustine Road. McNew's family requested the mass be reserved for family, friends, church members, colleagues and first responders.

The public can pay their respects by lining the sidewalk around the church.

Following the mass, there will be a procession for McNew to Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetary which will include a 21-gun salute, a flyover and other tributes.

"Officer McNew’s family is deeply appreciative of the overwhelming community support during this tragic time," JSO said in a statement.
