Life flight unable to reach patient in Interlachen crash due to weather

The patient was taken by ground after all air medical helicopters declined to pick up the patient, according to Putnam County Fire Rescue.

INTERLACHEN, Fla. — A crash in Interlachen involving two vehicles resulted in one person transported to a trauma center Monday.

According to Putnam County Fire Rescue, a head-on crash on a bridge on County Road 310 resulted in drastic damage shown in pictures posted to Facebook. The crash shut the bridge down for part of the night on Christmas.

The photos showed the car completely destroyed, the front of the car unrecognizable. The front of the other car can be seen as well, entangled with the car shown in the photos. They appear to be up against the guard rail.

Fire Rescue called for a medivac, but all helicopters declined to come to the scene "due to weather."

The patient therefore had to be taken to a level 1 trauma center by ambulance.
