Stories of Service: Recognizing Jacksonville soldiers serving forward deployment

In this week's Stories of Service, we focus on two members of the military who are from Jacksonville and are currently serving our country far from home.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Coast News is proud to share the Stories of Service of the brave men and women who protect our freedom every day. In this week's Stories of Service, we'd like to take a look at some members of the military from Jacksonville who are serving forward deployment.

Reese Chandler is an Aviation Ordinanceman 3rd class in the Navy who is inspecting an M61A2 aircraft gun in the hangar bay of the USS Ronald Reagan in the Philippine Sea. The USS Ronald Reagan is the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5 and provides a combat-ready force to protect the United States and military allies in the Indo-Pacific.

Sergeant Kiama Tims is also from Jacksonville and is an air traffic controller with the Marines. She works with the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing and communicates with UH60 Blackhawks at forward arming and refueling points in the United Arab Emirates.

We're proud of all of the brave men and women who wear the uniforms of our armed forces and protect us every day; especially those who are thousands of miles away from their families so we can enjoy freedom with ours here at home.
