FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A paraprofessional at Matanzas High School who was physically attacked on campus is recovering at home, family said.
The victim in the attack was identified by her daughter as Joan Naydich. Reports from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said they found Naydich with severe injuries after an "unprovoked attack" by a student last week.
Investigators were able to watch the attack on surveillance footage, which was shared to the FCSO Facebook page.
The student seen in the video, who police say is 6'6" and 270 pounds, can be seen knocking Naydich to the floor, leaving her unconscious. He then kicks and punches her. Staff members were able to restrain the student, though it took several people.
Naydich is at home and recovering, according to an update provided by her daughter to a GoFundMe page raising funds to support her. The update says she has received love and support from all over.
Naydich's family is also asking for support for her son, who is a senior at Matanzas High School and was at his mother's side after the incident.
