Mandarin High student knocked security guard to the ground, causing injuries, principal says

The security guard hit his head, causing 'significant bleeding,' Principal Sara Bravo said in a phone call to parents.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A student at Mandarin High School is accused of pushing a security guard to the ground, causing him injuries, according to Principal Sara Bravo.

In a phone message sent to parents, Bravo said the student was in police custody after an "altercation" with one of our security guards.

When the security guard fell to the ground, he hit his head on a bench. This caused "significant bleeding," Bravo said.

The incident happened in front of the cafeteria.

A hearing officer is reviewing the case to decide if the student will be expelled.

First Coast News has reached out to the Duval County Public Schools Police Department for more information on what charges the student could be facing.

Thankfully, this is very rare in our school. Nonetheless, it is always disappointing to see a student make a choice like this," Bravo said in her message. "We want the best future possible for our students, and this is certainly not it."
