Man recounts altercation between JSO officers and fan at Georgia-Florida game

“He was shot three times with a taser and then he's on the edge of the stand,” said Jeremy Williamson, who recorded the incident Saturday afternoon.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A spectator who recorded an altercation between Jacksonville Sheriff's officers and a fan at the Georgia-Florida game described the situation to First Coast News on Sunday.

Georgia Bulldogs fan Jeremy Williamson spent the second quarter of the game watching an encounter between a fan and two JSO officers in his section of Everbank Stadium Saturday afternoon.

“He was shot three times with a taser and then he's on the edge of the stand,” Williamson said about the fan.

Williamson believes the altercation started over verifying digital tickets, but he was shocked to see the incident escalate so quickly.

“If you look at my video, they made contact with this man and when he said, 'I'm not leaving my seats, I paid for them' they immediately pulled a taser on him instead of asking to see his tickets," Williamson said. "He tried to show the tickets to the police officers. His wife tried to show the tickets to the police officer. The police officer told her to move she'd get tased too.”

This wasn’t the only incident at the Georgia-Florida game.

On the other side of the stadium, two officers are seen punching two fans during the game in a now-viral video that has garnered millions of views on the social media platform X.

First Coast News reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for comment on both videos.

JSO responded saying as they review the incident “the agency will not comment until all facts are known and the reviews have been completed.”

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan also shared a comment to First Coast News on the incidents, saying: “I’m aware of several disturbing videos circulating from yesterday’s game. I have spoken to Sheriff Waters and the incidents are under investigation. We are awaiting the outcome of that investigation.”

Williamson said the incident left him wanting to cheer for the Bulldogs from a different stadium.

“The game is a staple of Jacksonville, but if Jacksonville is going to treat the fans like that, the game shouldn't be played there," he said.
