MAYPORT, Fla. -- Korean War veteran Tesch Brundick is proud of his service to the country and years spent as a young man in the United States Coast Guard. When he was honorably discharged in the early 1950s, medals he earned were not part of his departure. That changed on Wednesday some 62 years later.
"All the medals is so nice. I am floored if you want the truth," said Brundick following the ceremony at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville.
Somehow his paperwork never got in the system, but friends got involved and Brundick now has several tangible reminders of his military service including the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.
The 84 year-old veteran was also given a shadowbox that proudly displays what he earned for time served.
