A Florida lawyers association is seeking the reversal of former Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s conviction and sentence.
The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers is asking for a new trial for Brown after she was convicted on multiple counts of fraud and corruption and sentenced to five years in federal prison.
The document filed with the Eleventh Circuit claims the district court erred by dismissing juror No. 13.
“Seeking guidance from God does not amount to jury misconduct and is not a basis to remove a juror who is otherwise qualified to serve,” the document said.
She is slated for release from prison in June 2022, according to her prison records.
