ST. JOHNS, Fla.—Firefighters are battling a large house fire at 220 Flores Way in St. Johns Friday night.
Multiple units arrived on scene at 5 p.m., responding to a possible lightning strike-caused fire, said Jeremy Robshaw, St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesperson.
When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke showing and entered the home, Robshaw said. Once inside, firefighters didn't find anyone in the home, but did find a fire spreading rapidly through the attic space.
The Sheriff's Office said that nearby homes were evacuated as a safety precaution and that fire crews are working to keep other homes safe.
Roads are closed in the area, authorities said.
No injuries have been reported at this time and authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
