JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died after rear-ending a Jacksonville city bus Thursday morning in the Arlington area.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man in his 50s crashed his Ford Focus into the back of a JTA bus that had stopped at a bus stop to unload passengers on University Boulevard North. The crash happened around 11 a.m.
The driver was transported to the hospital with critical injuries but ultimately died, JSO said.
The southbound lanes of University Boulevard North were shut down at Fort Carolina Road and three blocks south.
There were six passengers on board the bus when the crash happened, JSO said. One of them suffered minor injuries.
This is the 149th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2024.
