Clay County Transportation, a new service offered to Clay riders, begins Monday by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority,
JTA officials say the goal is to provide convenient and easy transportation options for county riders who will be able to access route services Monday through Friday.
“We are excited to be able to offer new transportation services throughout Clay County,” said Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., JTA chief executive officer. “The new routes provide riders with affordable transportation opportunities and convenient access to a number of key destinations.”
The Red and Blue line routes will take riders to popular Clay locations, including Orange Park Mall, St. Johns River State College and Orange Park Medical Center.
Standard fares are $1, and reduced price 50-cent fares are available for children, age 6 and younger, senior passengers, age 60 and older, and passengers with disabilities.
For a $1 fee, Clay County Transportation will provide a flex service option, where the bus will deviate for passenger pick-ups if the schedule permits.
Red Line routes will include the Clay County Library, Orange Park Library, Orange Park Mall, Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park Senior Center and St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Blue Line routes will include the Clay County Courthouse, Clay County Health Department, Kindred Hospital North Florida, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Orange Park Library, Orange Park Mall, Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park Senior Center and St. Johns River State College.
The earliest route begins at 5:45 a.m. and the latest route is 7:15 p.m. For full route details, including complete departure times and destination maps, www.jtafla.com/claycommunity-transportation.
JTA became the Community Transportation Coordinator for Clay County on Jan. 1.Since taking on coordination, JTA has begun to provide para-transit services for Transportation Disadvantaged community members. JTA also operates the Clay Regional Express. Clay Community Transportation is the latest expansion of JTA’s services across the county.
