JSO: Woman found suffering from gunshots in downtown Jacksonville later dies

Two witnesses have been detained for interviews, police said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a woman has died from gunshot wounds after she was found by police in downtown Jacksonville.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. Friday, patrol officers responded to the 900 block of Kings Road to a person shot. The woman was shot somewhere else and stopped to find help, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing. There have been two witnesses detained and they are being interviewed as detectives work to learn the circumstances of the incident and the relationship of the parties involved.
