JSO: Suspect shoots at undercover detectives 'without any interaction', flees Talleyrand area

Authorities believe the suspect possibly fled the area in silver sedan. A deputy received minor injuries in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they said fired at undercover detectives in the Talleyrand area Friday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m., police said a man fired at the detectives striking their vehicle "four to five times" with a handgun on Florida Avenue and E. 22nd Street "without any interaction." One detective received a laceration to the arm, the agency said.

The detectives in the unmarked car did not return fire.

The suspect fled west on 22nd Street, then left in an unknown direction in a silver Toyota sedan, according to JSO. The suspect was wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt and was described to be between 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall.

JSO released an image of the vehicle the suspect was seen in.
