JSO: Suspect shoots at undercover detectives 'without any interaction', flees Talleyrand area

Authorities believe the suspect possibly fled the area in silver sedan. A deputy received minor injuries in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they said fired at undercover detectives in the Talleyrand area Friday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m., police said a man fired at the detectives striking their vehicle "four to five times" with a handgun on Florida Avenue and E. 22nd Street "without any interaction." One detective received a laceration to the arm, the agency said.

The detectives in the unmarked car did not return fire.

The suspect, a black man, fled west on 22nd Street, then left in an unknown direction in a silver sedan, according to JSO. The suspect was wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt and was described as five-foot-eight-inches to six feet tall.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500, email JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
