JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a fatal crash on the Southside Sunday morning, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Arlington Road around 12:15 a.m., police said. It's the 129th traffic fatality of the year and 23rd involving a motorcyclist.
A man in his early 20s was riding a motorcycle east on Atlantic Boulevard when an SUV turned left onto southbound Arlington Road and was "struck on the passenger’s side by the motorcycle with enough force to overturn the SUV," the agency said.
The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after arriving, police said.
The driver of the SUV and three passengers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and there were no "indicators of impairment," the agency said. A witness said the motorcycle’s headlight did not work or was very dim and the motorcycle was moving at a high rate of speed, according to JSO.
