JFRD: No injuries, home at a 'complete loss' following fire on Jacksonville's Northside

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Captain Eric Prosswimmer tells First Coast News that the owners of the home live out-of-state.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A home on Jacksonville's Northside is at a "complete loss" Wednesday morning following a fire that took firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer tells First Coast News that firefighters got the call about the fire at a home in the 11500 block of Birch Forest Circle West at around 5:45 a.m. When crews responded to the home, it was vacant, as the owners live in New York, according to Prosswimmer.

JFRD says the owners haven't been back to Florida in 5-6 months.

Prosswimmer says fire was shooting out of the attic as well when crews arrived on scene. However, firefighters were able to attack the fire from inside. No injuries were suffered among the first responders with JFRD, nor were any homes nearby impacted by the fire.

The Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations arrived on scene and are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
