JFRD battled fire at Southside Boulevard apartment complex, saved dog

JFRD is responding to an apartment fire Saturday night off Southside Boulevard.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JFRD is responding to an apartment fire Saturday night off Southside Boulevard.

The call came out for the fire at about 7:53 p.m. in the 7800 block of Southside Boulevard at the Fountains at Deerwood apartment complex, according to JFRD.

JFRD tweeted that there were flames coming through the roof of at least one of the buildings at the complex.

As of 8:39 p.m. Saturday, the fire was deemed under control by JFRD on Twitter.

Red Cross has been requested to assist two adults and one child from inside the residence.

Initial reports stated a dog was inside the home during the fire, and JFRD was able to rescue the dog and reunite it with its owners.
