JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was hit and killed while riding on the Wonderwood Bridge Saturday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said the man was riding an antique motorcycle east on the Wonderwood Expressway in the right lane when a Toyota Corolla struck the back of it. The motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the driver showed no indicators of impairment.
The crash shut down all lanes of Wonderwood Expressway eastbound at Girvin Road as detectives conducted their on-scene investigation, causing backups in the area for drivers.
This traffic fatality marks the 151st this year in Duval County and marks the 29th involving a motorcycle, police said.
