JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a shooting in the Turtle Creek area Sunday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday at the 800 block of Poydras Lane West. Officers were dispatched in reference to a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a man in his early 30s in the front yard of a residence.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police said the victim was shot multiple times in his upper body.
At this time, police believe the situation is domestic. The initial investigation shows a family member discharged a firearm multiple times onto another family member. Police are not sharing the family connection between the victim and the shooter, citing Marsy's Law.
Two firearms were located at the residence, police said, but it's unclear whether the firearms belonged to either the victim or shooter. Police are still investigating the motive of the shooting.
Detectives are also canvasing the area for possible surveillance that could have captured the incident.
No arrests have been made, however, multiple people were detained by police and are undergoing questioning.
