Jax Beach hosting orientation for new lifeguards on Sunday

Jacksonville Beach is looking to hire some more lifeguards for the upcoming beach season later this year.

Orientation for those interested in becoming lifeguards is at 9 a.m. on Sunday at the lifeguard building at Jacksonville Beach, located at 2 Oceanfront North, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.

Starting pay is $11.48 an hour for the first year.

Anyone who is physically able to lifeguard is encouraged to show up.

At the orientation, interested people will be filling out paperwork. Those coming to orientation are encouraged to bring a physical from a doctor.

Interested applicants will under a 12-week training course that will meet every Sunday and Tuesday in spring.
