JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — She's accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars in real estate investments and mentorship programs. Jacksonville entrepreneur Janay White is the subject of multiple civil cases against her for fraud and bad business practices; now some of her former clients want action to be taken.
More than 50 police reports have been filed against White for bad business practices, and Wednesday afternoon a small group of people claiming to be victims protested through downtown Jacksonville, calling for White's arrest for stealing their money.
"Today hopefully we can get the attention of everybody that's in the courthouse, the police, the FBI, federal financial investigators," said Buddy Wilson, who organized the protest.
These four people also said they were scammed out of more than $10,000 by White and demanded that she be arrested for taking their money without any return on that investment.
Rayvon Griffin-Bright said she is one of White's victims and said some of the other victims are disabled or couldn't join in Wednesday's protest because they had to work to make back the money they said White stole.
"We're just the face of many, there's thousands of people who have been affected by this," said Griffin-Bright, "there's a lot of people who don't know what's going on with her and older people who don't have access to social media, so that's why we wanted to come out in person."
The group marched through downtown Jacksonville, from the courthouse to the State Attorney's Office, chanting to anyone who would listen to what they've been through.
"I've never received anything, multiple people are out thousands of dollars and it's really sad to have it going on in our community," said Andre Romano, who said he invested $22,000 with White, "she was telling us it was part of the game of Airbnb and in my opinion it was a lot of lies and false promises that she was promising to a lot of people including me."
Four people looking for justice in Jacksonville, with a plea to arrest the person they say stole from them.
Currently, there is no warrant for Janay White's arrest in this case. A statement from the State Attorney's Office reads:
"As with inquiries of this nature, we can neither confirm nor deny the presence of an investigation. However, anyone who believes they are a victim should contact JSO's Economic Crimes Unit to file a police report and maintain all their financial records and documents pertaining to their interactions with Ms. White and/or her companies."
