JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is scrambling to save Christmas for her two-year-old son.
Jasmine Smith says her car full of Christmas gifts for her family was stolen early Wednesday morning. She shared this Ring doorbell footage from her neighbor with First Coast News.
The 14-second video shows three people approach Smith's car.
Smith's car's lights flash and the people open the doors of her car as the video ends. The following morning, she saw her car was missing.
“It looked like they clicked something before getting in the car, I’m not sure what they’re using to do that," she said.
Smith has filed a police report.
“I bought my car for $26,000, $2 or $3,000 worth of stuff in the car I had my little cousin's gifts and my niece and nephew's gifts," Smith said.
Her bank also sent her a notification.
She said whoever stole her car tried to use her credit card at a gas station and Target.
“I lost everything. My clothes, I just bought my kid new clothes, and everything was in the car because I planned to wrap everything for Christmas and I don’t have anything to wrap anymore because they took everything," Smith said.
Smith was waiting for her two-year-old son to fall asleep before going to her car to get the gifts to wrap for Christmas. But, she fell asleep.
"It really hurts, it really hurts," Smith said.
Smith's car was a red Volkswagen SUV.
Her friend set up a GoFundMe to help.
