JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — 1:25 p.m. Update: JSO announced the woman and child have been identified and are safe.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a "suspicious incident" on Baymeadows Road involving a man, woman and child.

Witnesses observed a woman enter a business around 8300 Baymeadows Road holding a child, the agency said. She began asking employees of the business to call 911.

Then, JSO said a man pulled into the parking lot in a "dark-colored crossover-type" SUV. The man entered the business, grabbed the woman and child, and took them to the back seat of the dark-colored vehicle prior to leaving "in an unknown direction of travel," the agency stated.
