JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ahead of the final town hall meeting with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Sheriff T.K. Waters told First Coast News he is planning on expanding their traffic unit.

Waters shared how in the previous town hall meetings, the public shared concerns involving traffic, speeding, racing and reckless driving. Something he described as "quality of life" issues.

"You know, people leave their home in the morning to go to work, whether it's traffic jams, whether it's excessive speeding," Sheriff Waters explained. "All those things affect just about everyone and that's what you hear about."

Waters said the other topics constituents brought up included ways to fight violent crime and JSO's leadership.

The public has an opportunity to engage with the Jacksonville sheriff at North Jax Baptist Church. It will be the final sixth and final town hall meeting, but it will not be the last chance to engage with Waters.

"As long as you'll have me around, we're gonna do it annually because I think it's important. It's important to have these discussions," Waters said. "We're gonna make sure we stay on it because this is a good way for us to engage, talk to one another and they can talk directly to me."

The final town hall meeting starts at 6 p.m.
