Flounder Pounder fishing tournament to raise money for Jacksonville School for Autism

The 15th annual Flounder Pounder fishing tournament will be Saturday, Oct. 12. It has raised more than $1.3 million for the Jacksonville School for Autism.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In September, an extremely heavy amount of rain over multiple days overloaded JEA's sewer system at the Jacksonville School for Autism, which caused it to be over capacity.

The school's wastewater system was impacted by the sewer system, which then overflowed back inside the school. The school had to close while the mess was cleaned up and that put serious stress on the students, teachers and families who rely on the school.

On Oct. 12, the 'Flounder Pounder fishing tournament' will once again raise money for the school. The 15th annual tournament will bring anglers from all over the First Coast to compete for cash prizes and trophies.

Flounder Pounder tournament director Chip Davis joined Good Morning Jacksonville on Saturday to describe how the school for autism benefited his son, Tyler, as well as other children and families at the school.
