JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville rapper has been identified by his girlfriend as the victim in a deadly shooting on A Phillip Randolph last week.
Thirty-year-old Kenneth Glover Jr. was shot and killed around 9 p.m. Friday.
Dozens of people gathered around police tape as investigators gathered evidence.
First Coast News watched Glover's father run past officers to try to reach the area his son was killed.
But, he was tackled by officers before he could reach it.
"He meant everything to me, his sons, his stepsons, to his family," Glover Jr.'s girlfriend, Neshia, said in a statement to First Coast News.
"He was the heart of the Eastside. He was my world, he was our son’s world. Now that world has been shattered into pieces. Pieces I cannot put back together. Because we will always have a piece missing. He was killed right before he was supposed to attend his son’s first birthday party that Saturday. Holidays and birthdays, life period, will never be the same. He was loved dearly, and we all are going to miss him dearly."
Glover Jr., a rapper, was known to his friends and family as Tiger Sparks.
“He called me Unc [Uncle], he used to mess with me all the time every time I walk outside, he come to the barbershop he called me old country. Old country Dana," The Man-Cave Barbershop owner, Dana Miller, said.
Glover Jr. was killed next to Miller's shop.
“I was laying in the bed, and I got a phone call that there was a shooting here on A Phillip Randolph and they told me who it was and my whole heart fell into my stomach," Miller said.
Miller went to high school with Glover Jr.'s father.
“It hurts it really hurts right now. You never know what our kids' young men and women are involved in and everything, but I can say he was a good guy, and he was well loved by our community," Miller said.
A former drug dealer, Miller lost his brother to gun violence.
Now, he’s an advocate for gun violence prevention an article on his wall reminds him about his recovery every day.
Now he has another reminder, a memorial for Glover Jr. right next to his shop.
“I went over there to look at the flowers and you can see the bullet holes in the wall on the side of the store and it brings back a lot of memories of when my brother was murdered it's just overwhelming it makes you want to cry every time you think about it," Miller said.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it has made no arrests.
The only suspect information they’ve given us is a dark colored 4-door vehicle driving fast through the area at the time of the shooting.
