Jacksonville nonprofit OneJax announces new CEO

Elizabeth Andersen will serve as the new Chief Executive Officer of OneJax, Inc. starting Feb. 5.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville interfaith nonprofit OneJax is getting a new leader.

Elizabeth Andersen will serve as the new Chief Executive Officer of OneJax, Inc. starting Feb. 5.

Andersen previously served as the Mental Health Subcommittee chair for Mayor Donna Deegan and the City of Jacksonville and joined OneJax's board in July. She's also served as the former chair of the Duval County School Board and is a licensed mental health counselor with her a practice of her own.

Andersen is from Jacksonville and has spent years leading local mental health counselors with the Child Guidance Center, which specializes in counseling for children and families in underserved communities.

OneJax, a local interfaith organization, has promoted respect among people of different races, religions, cultures, orientations and identities for more than five decades.

OneJax Board Chair Dr. Mobeen Rathore announced Andersen's tenure in a release on Sunday.

"We see Elizabeth as a catalyst for positive change, championing initiatives focused on social equity, resource accessibility, and the common good," Rathore said. "She is dedicated and comes to this position with a great sense of purpose. Her multi-dimensional involvement with community initiatives speaks to her values and her vision."

Andersen will replace OneJax's interim CEO Patricia McElroy, who serves as a board member for the nonprofit and is president of the VyStar Foundation.
