2 JFRD firefighters hurt battling deadly fire on Jacksonville's Mid-Westside

JFRD responded to the house fire around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is dead and two firefighters are hurt after a fire on the city's Mid-Westside Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

JFRD responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of Mc Conihe Street around 9 a.m. 

Officials said the firefighters were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after attempting to rescue someone inside the house. That person did not survive.

First Coast News crews first spotted large plumes of smoke from I-95.
