JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was sentenced to life in prison in connection to the 2012 death of a toddler.
Devonte Rashad Baker, 22, was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday afternoon for his conviction of second-degree murder last month. Baker also received 30 years in prison for his conviction of aggravated child abuse.
In December 2012, the two-year-old victim was under the care of the defendant when the victim's mother returned home and found the child unresponsive. The victim was taken to the hospital, but later died as a result of a severe head injury.
