Jacksonville man, 30, hit and killed by car on U.S. 301, troopers say

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a witness said a sedan was changing lanes when it hit and killed the man.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville man died after being struck by a car near the intersection of U.S. 301 and County Road 218 Friday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. 

The report said a Hilliard man driving a sedan around 1:20 a.m. was traveling southbound on U.S. 301 within the inside travel lane approaching County Road 218. The victim, a 30-year-old Jacksonville man, was "walking or standing" within the outside travel lane of the road when they were struck and killed, the report said.

A witness told troopers the sedan was in the process of changing lanes and was traveling "normally and in a prudent manner," according to the report. 

The report said the victim's next of kin notification is pending.
