JEA: Boil water notice in effect in Mandarin

Water main broke Thursday evening, utility officials say.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: the boil water advisory was lifted 3 p.m. Friday.

A boil water advisory has been enacted as crews are responding to a broken water main in Mandarin at 11531 San Jose Blvd. that occurred Thursday night while crews were working on Addie Lane.

According to JEA, the water main was broken by a private contractor working in the area. JEA water maintenance crews are on site assisting contractor on repairs. 

There will be no waters and poor pressures affecting the 32223 zip code, which encompasses Mandarin. There is currently no time for service to return, the utility said.

According to JEA, 208 residential and 30 commercial customers have been affected.

The state requires a boil water advisory when the following conditions occur: 

  • The outage impacts a large geographic area or a large population (more than 350 people or more than 150 metered services); or 
  • The duration of the outage has or is anticipated to last more than 8 hours; or 
  • Field crews suspect the water quality may have been jeopardized during the outage.
