Jacksonville car chase ends in multi-vehicle crash near Arlington Expressway

There is still a female subject "at large," according to Florida Highway Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A car chase involving the Florida Highway Patrol ended in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Jacksonville.

FHP said a trooper was attempting to stop a driver of a stolen truck, but the man fled from them.

The chase ended in a crash at Cesery Boulevard and the Arlington Expressway Service Road. The driver who fled FHP was taken into custody, according to officials.

"He decided to steal a truck and take a lady on a joyride. He didn’t know he’d meet one of 'Florida’s Finest,'" FHP said.

The man faces "numerous" criminal charges following the incident, the agency said.

"Female passenger casually packs her bag and walks away from scene," FHP said. "She didn’t even check on other people involved in the crash."

FHP said she is still at large.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the crash along with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Dept., so drivers were asked to avoid the area until the roads were cleared.
