JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue Division warned the public Saturday that beach and ocean conditions will be hazardous throughout the weekend and urged beachgoers to stay out of the water.

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville issued a high rip current risk through the weekend for Duval County, noting that the distant effects from storms Milton and Leslie increased ocean hazards.

Ocean Rescue said lifeguards are monitoring the conditions, but asked beachgoers to take the following precautions:

  1. Avoid going into the water unless you are a highly experienced swimmer or surfer
  2. Always swim near a lifeguard
  3. Call 911 if you see someone in distress, do not get in the water yourself

"Even those experienced in the water should be aware of the increased danger and respect the power of the ocean during this period of hazardous conditions," Ocean Rescue said in a release Saturday.
