The sheriff's office said four deputies shot and killed an armed suspect who was drinking, made suicidal threats and was "uncooperative" before ramming a patrol car.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Friday evening that deputies shot and killed an armed suspect, closing Old Moultrie Road near U.S. 1 in St. Augustine.

Around 5:10 p.m., the sheriff's office said a concerned family member of the victim contacted the agency about a person who had been drinking alcohol, making suicidal threats and left his residence with a firearm. The victim was "uncooperative while armed with a firearm and began to ram one of the patrol vehicles," the agency said on X.

Four deputies discharged their weapons. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputies were not injured, according to SJCSO.

The sheriff's office said there is no threat to the community. U.S. 1 is open, the agency said.
