Increased aircraft activity at NAS Jacksonville, surrounding areas with arrival of F-35B fighter jets

Naval Air Station Jacksonville is hosting F-35B "Lightning II" jet fighter pilots for training exercises through Feb. 12.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — You will notice increased aircraft activity if you're near Naval Air Station Jacksonville. NAS Jacksonville is hosting F-35B “Lightning II” jet fighter pilots for training exercises starting Wednesday. The training will last through Feb. 12, an NAS Jax news release states. Aircraft participating in the training will begin arriving here Wednesday morning, the news release states.

Base officials warn residents in neighborhoods surrounding NAS Jacksonville "will notice an extensive increase in aircraft activity and noise during this training period," the news release states.
