Milton preps: Where to get sandbags in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia

Several counties have released locations to pick up sandbags ahead of Milton. This story will be updated as information is released.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ahead of Hurricane Milton's forecasted impacts to Northeast Florida, several counties and cities have announced plans for neighbors to gather sandbags to protect their property.

Here is a list of what we know so far. This story will be updated as information is released.

Clay County

Clay County Emergency Management will have sandbags available at several locations on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are limited to 10 per person on a first-come, first-served basis. The county will refill the sites as needed. You will have to fill your own bags, and shovels are not provided. Residents should bring their own shovels to fill their bags.

Nassau County

Nassau County government officials posted on Facebook they are finalizing the details to make sandbags available. Locations and hours will be announced Monday morning.

Putnam County

The City of Palatka will provide free sandbags for residents at the south corner of St. Johns avenue and S. 11th Street starting at 10 a.m. Monday. The sandbags will be available at the city's main fire station on the north corner o the intersection.

Flagler County

Countywide Residents (10 per household, self service – please bring a shovel):

  • Hidden Trails Community Center (6108 Mahogany Blvd, Bunnell)
    • Sunday:             Noon to sunset
    • Monday:             10 a.m. to sunset
  • Bay Drive Park (30 Bay Dr, The Hammock)
    • Sunday:             Noon to sunset
    • Monday:             10 a.m. to sunset

City of Flagler Beach Residents (Self service – please bring a shovel)

  • Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church (915 North Central Ave)
    • Monday:             Starting at 9 a.m.
  • Flagler Beach Fire Station (320 S. Flagler Ave)
    • Monday:             Starting at 9 a.m.

City of Palm Coast Residents (10 per household, self service – please bring a shovel)

  • Indian Trails Sports Complex (5455 Belle Terre Pkwy)
    • Sunday:             Noon to sunset, or while supplies last
    • Monday:             Starting at 8 a.m.
