The Clay County Board of Commissioners has announced mandatory evacuation orders for those living in Zones A and B effective 3 p.m. Tuesday morning.
Commissioners detailed important evacuation and shelter information for Clay County residents during a 3 p.m. meeting at the Clay County Administration Building in Green Cove Springs.
A Special Needs Evacuation Shelter will be opening at noon on Tuesday, at this location:
- Lake Asbury Junior High, 2851 Sandridge Rd., Green Cove Springs.
The Florida Department of Health-Clay County will begin calling residents who are registered with the Special Needs Registry starting Tuesday at 8 a.m. to confirm transportation needs.
Evacuation shelters for the general public will be opening Tuesday at 3 p.m. at these locations:
- Clay High School, 2025 FL-16, Green Cove Springs
- Orange Park High School, 2300 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park (pet friendly)
- Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High, 900 Orchid Ave., Keystone Heights (pet friendly)
- Wilkinson Elementary, 4965 Co Rd. 218, Middleburg
Commissioners recommend evacuees bring the following items to the shelters:
- Identification
- Disaster supply kit
- Food
- Change of clothes
- Prescription medications
- Bedding
- Cash and credit cards
- Flashlights and batteries
- Toiletries
- Important papers and phone numbers
- Quiet activities for children
