JFRD: House fire on Jacksonville's Eastside is 'suspicious'

A house in the 1200 block of Van Buren Street was suddenly in flames Tuesday morning, as no one was found in the home after the fire was put out.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department tells First Coast News it is calling a house fire which happened on the city's Eastside Tuesday morning, "suspicious."

Around 6:10 a.m., firefighters arrived at an abandoned home in the 1200 block of Van Buren Street, seeing flames shoot through the roof.

JFRD Captain Eric Prosswimmer says no one was found in the home while putting the fire out, even though there were several hot spots across the home.

None of the neighboring houses were impacted by the fire.

No firefighters were injured and fire marshals were called to the scene after the fire was put out to investigate the cause of it.
