Here's what you should do before driving to park at Jacksonville International Airport this weekend

Early Friday, a JIA spokesperson said the airport had no parking spots available, but spots have since opened up.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — If you plan to park and fly out of Jacksonville International Airport this weekend, be sure to check parking availability on its website.

Early Friday morning, the airport tweeted it had no more spots, but later in the afternoon, the airport said about 200 had opened up.

JIA says availability will fluctuate this weekend, but spots should be available. Parking availability has been a growing issue for the airport, the spokesperson says lots typically fill up during the week.

But, it's unique for the entire airport to run out of parking.

On Wednesday, JIA opened a new 350-spot lot, and it plans to add an additional 150 spots in the summer of 2024. In 2025, a 2,000-spot parking garage is expected to be open.

Andrew Giannini flew back to Jacksonville Friday and says he noticed how crowded the garage was when he parked his car.

“If they’re [JIA] adding more spots, hopefully they’re able to either keep the prices the same or lower them cause certainly if they increase their prices, it’s going to make travel even more stressful for people if they’re trying to really save," Giannini told First Coast News. "Hopefully, too, the spots are closer. It wouldn’t be fun parking all the way in like Nassau just to come to the airport."

If JIA is out of parking, other airport parking options include USA Park, WallyPark, Park EZ Fly Ride, among others.
